We would like to inform you that the following new TC was established: * CIE TC 6-60 Spectral Weighting of Ultraviolet Radiation from Solar Surrogate Sources (Chair: Don Forbes, USA) Terms of Reference: To prepare a document intended to provide health research scientists with a concise reference for estimating the risk associated with exposure to various levels of radiation from solar surrogate sources. According to CIE By-Laws 2.5, a NC may appoint a representative who is prepared to be active. |

CIE NC vote on: - CIE Draft Standard DS 014-1.3/E:2005 "Colorimetry - Part 1: CIE Standard Colorimetric Observers - CIE Draft Standard DS 014-2.3/E:2005 "Colorimetry - Part 2: CIE Standard Illuminants" Dear Colleagues, On 2004-11-13, CIE Draft Standards DS 014-1.2/E:2004 and DS 014-2.2/E:2004 were sent to NCs for comments with a deadline of 2005-05-15. Comments were collected and sent to Vice-President Technical, Vice-President Publications and Division Director, who evaluated the comments received, and changes were made accordingly. The final CIE draft standards, as well as a summary of the CIE NC comments, can be downloaded in pdf format from the CIE website at http://www.physics.kee.hu/cie/newcie/ Please click on "Documents for download" and then under National Committees on: "Draft Standard DS 014-1.3 Colorimetry, Part 1: CIE Standard Colorimetric Observers", "Draft Standard DS 014-2.3 Colorimetry, Part 2: CIE Standard Illuminants", and on: "NC comments and D2 responses to Draft Standards DS0014-1.2 and DS014-2.2" Attached you will find the ballot sheets NC01/05 and NC 02/05 for vote. We would like to inform you that the following new TCs were established: * TC 1-67: The Effects of Dynamic and Stereo Visual Images on Human Health (Chair: Hiroyasu Ujike, Japan) Terms of Reference: To write a technical report on the physiological and psychophysical effects of dynamic and stereo visual images in terms of photosensitive seizures, visually induced motion sickness and eyestrain. * TC 1-68: Effect of Stimulus Size on Colour Appearance (Chair: Peter Bodrogi, Hungary) Terms of Reference: To compare the appearance of small (<2 degree) and large (>20 degree) uniform stimuli on a neutral background. * TC 4-44: Management and Maintenance of Road Lighting (Chair: Pentti Hautala, Finland) Terms of Reference: To revise Publication CIE 115-1995 in such a way that lighting performance requirements may vary depending on actual status of environmental and traffic conditions. * TC 4-45: Performance assessment method for vehicle headlamps (Chair: Geoff Draper, UK) Terms of Reference: To develop a technical report that defines an objective procedure for the evaluation of forward-lighting system performance in terms of active safety. Possibly continue to develop the procedure as an industry standard. To start with EuroNCAP. * TC 6-59: UVC photocarcinogenesis risks from germicidal lamps (Chair: Richard Vincent, US) Terms of Reference: To prepare a technical report on the potential carcinogenic risk of low-pressure mercury discharge lamps used for ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). According to CIE By-Laws 2.5, NCs may appoint a representative who is prepared to be active. |

Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to inform you that in May 2006 a CIE Expert Symposium will be organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the CIE Standard Colorimetric Observer: 75 years of the CIE Standard Colorimetric Observer 16 - 17 May 2006 NRC, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada organized by the Canadian NC of CIE and the ISCC in conjunction with the CIE Division 1 meeting and the ISCC Annual Meeting. Attached you will find an announcement and the Call for Papers, deadline for abstracts is 15 January. New CIE Standard: CIE S 015/E:2005 "Lighting of Outdoor Work Places" To promote the sales of this standard, please disseminate the information included in the press release to all pertinent organisations and institutions in your country. List Price of CIE S 015/E:2005 is Euro 22,-- (valid for NC members). This CIE Standard was submitted to ISO for fast-track voting as joint ISO/CIE standard, it was also submitted to CEN for adoption. A further CIE Standard giving the specific requirements for safety and security in outdoor work places is to follow as CIE S 016/E:2005 shortly. |
